Trailing Down the Falls

Last weekend my friends and I went to Majayjay Falls in Laguna to do some sort of nature tripping and to escape from the heat of the summer sun.

Majayjay Falls which is also known as Taytay Falls or even Imelda Falls, (because ex-First Lady Imelda Marcos financed the promotion of tourism in this place) is a two-storey high falls located in a romote scenery of Laguna where the forestry is abundant. (Source: wikipedia/Majayjay)

Many people flock the falls to relax and bathe in its cold water. During the weekend and holidays, the falls is crowded with people.

During our visit, as we expect, the falls is crowded not only of people who live in the neighboring town but also of people like us who wants to experience the coldness and breeziness of falls. The water flowing at Majayjay Falls comes from Mount Banahaw. Possibly this is the reason why the water is incredibly cold.

Entrance Fee is 20-pesos per person. The park which covers the falls has parking facilities for private vehicles. There is also room you can rent if you plan to stay overnight or if you just want to have a safe place to leave your valuables (rent fee range from 400-1000 pesos).

The falls is still far from the park’s entrance. You have to walk on a cliff side trail to go to the falls. It is about around 15 minutes walk. The trail was already paved and cemented and you don’t have to go to the end of the trail because there are already stairs leading to the river below where you can bathe and set up camp.

However, I recommend that you go to the falls to maximize your visit. The water near the falls is fresher as compared to the water downstream.

After a long walk, you will reach Majayjay Falls and now you can enjoy in swimming in the supper cold water of the Falls. You could harmlessly pass through the waterfall, just be careful of the rocks on the riverbed that is slippery.

Well, that’s about it. If you are going there, I suggest that you bring your own camera.
